Under 16 Men
Aurora Barbarians RFC (ABRFC) 60 vs York Yeoman 0

The Aurora Barbs U16s romped to a 60 – 0 victory over the visiting Yeomen on Saturday at Fletcher’s Fields. This was unexpected as the team had 3 players away with the Ontario U16s plus a host of players away with injuries or on vacation. Only 15 players were available to take the field. Luckily, the Yeomen only brought 13 players. Even though Aurora dropped two players, the team found numerous holes and opportunities to exploit all match. Scrum-half, Alex Todd, picked a ball from the scrum to run 60 metres for the first try at the three minute mark. The Barbs put across a try every four to five minutes after that for the balance of the game. Despite the seemingly easy pickings, the Barbs created many opportunities through their aggressive defence and excellent supporting runs. Aurora ’s tries were scored by: Alex Todd (3 tries), Brian Yoksimovich (2 tries), Josh Herrington (2 tries), Conor Anderson, Leo Policelli and Frank Walker. Leo Policelli also slotted five converts for the day. The Barbs next face the Toronto Nomads at Fletcher’s Fields on Wednesday, July 25, Kick-off is at 6:30.

Despite not knowing where to stand on defensive lineouts, the man of the match has to go to Alex Todd, who stepped in and performed admirably at scrum half. Hearty hurrahs go out to Brian Yoksimovich , Zach Moore, Sam Galloro and Shayne Miller (who was jumping for the first time and was outstanding). Every one really deserves a pat on the back considering that virtually everyone played different positions from what they were used to at some point.
