Game Report: July 20/21, 2005

Under 19 Women
Another week, another great improvement. With 30 committed girls coming to Tuesday practices, it makes it very difficult to choose a starting lineup and make substitutions.

The girls played an amazing game after settling down in the first quarter. We maintained possession for most of the game with a final score of 17 - 0 for us. Mary McConnell did a great job as both fly half and captain while Chelsea was away.

Jenny Cruickshank (P) scored the first try in the far corner, followed by Andie Watpool (8) and Meaghan Puttock (OC) in the second half. Emily Griffiths (OC/Wing) did well at kicking for her first time, getting one convert.

With a record of 2 and 2, we are in a good position going into our final regular season game next week against the Wanderers. We have 4 girls playing with the seniors this weekend: Alison McKittrick, Fiona Clark, Andie Watpool, and Joann Austria - good luck girls!

Junior U18 Men
Aurora u18s Thrash Toronto Irish 53-0
In a impressive display of running rugby the Aurora u18s defeated the Toronto Irish 53-0 last Wednesday night. Aurora stretched their regular season record to 3 and 1 with the victory.

They opened the scoring after just five minutes with a try from prop Brandon Lewi. It was to be the first of Brandon‚s three tries that evening. Zach Pancer's convert made it 7-0 and the rout was on.

Aurora kept up the pressure and the Irish had no answer for the speed and power of Aurora. Tries were scored by Dan Norris, Matt Prevoe and Calvin Craven. Pancer added three more first half converts.

In the second half Aurora kept up the onslaught crossing the line four more times, with tries by Lewi (his third), Jaime Armstrong, Greg Sharpe and Prevoe (again).

The next game for Aurora is Wednesday July 27th against the Toronto Nomads.
